Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@focusbodyems.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We highly recommend one session per week, especially if you are not doing any other form of workout, but skipping a week is not harmful and will not take away the benefits of your sessions. You will workout your muscles and burn calories in every single session, but consistency will provide you the best results. The maximum number of sessions you can do is two per week (minimum of four days apart).

  • Always drink sufficient fluids before, during and after EMS training. At least 500 ml of water half an hour before your session.
  • EMS training is a highly intensive form of loading which mainly needs carbohydrates. The advantage of using a large amount of energy and having a better metabolic rate is that the body uses more calories and, therefore, the total caloric expenditure increases. Carbohydrates are your muscles’ favorite energy source!
  • No weight lifting 24 hours prior to your session. This ensures training success by preventing the accumulation of muscle waste products and allowing time for proper recovery and continued adjustment to the training sessions.

Yes, all of our personal trainers are certified by nationally recognized organizations such as NASM and ACE. They have the knowledge and expertise to help you achieve your fitness goals.

It depends on the severity of the injury. We recommend consulting with your doctor before starting any exercise program. If cleared, our personal trainers can modify your workouts to accommodate your injury.

Yes, Clinical studies show that participants lose 4-9% body fat in just six sessions. Although, whole-body EMS training with Miha Bodytec is scientifically shown to strengthen muscle and reduce fat, research continues to look for the exact mechanism of how this occurs. A large part of the fat reduction is likely due to the increase in metabolism that Miha Bodytec produces for several days following a session (“afterburn”) and long-term as you gain more muscle. When you increase your metabolism, you will burn more energy with everything you do causing your fat to get used up as fuel.

Yes. In fact, after just four sessions studies show a 9% increase in strength! Whole-Body Electromyostimulation with Miha Bodytec is designed to help you gain and maintain muscle. It will not add bulk and muscle size, but it will change your body composition to have less fat and more muscle, resulting in a more lean and toned body. You will also experience notable gains in strength.

Miha Bodytec and Whole-Body electro muscle stimulation is an FDA-cleared medical device. There are however other similar EMS devices on the market that are not medical grade and not as thoroughly tested and researched as Miha Bodytec.

It’s similar to the pressure you would experience during a typical massage session. Your trainer will customize your settings to your comfort level allowing you to work with whatever intensity feels the best for you.    Miha Bodytec and Whole-Body electro muscle stimulation is an FDA-cleared medical device. There are however other similar EMS devices on the market that are not medical grade and not as thoroughly tested and researched as Miha Bodytec.

If correctly supervised and administered by a professional, there is no danger inherent in this technology. EMS is a popular means of training utilized by many studios throughout the world. The low current is approved by the FDA and there are no known cases of muscular injury associated with an EMS electro stimulation session.

EMS pads are strategically placed near the particular muscle being stimulated, with small adjustments of the impulse intensity.  Current rhythms are made to match your fitness level. The muscle contracts and releases rhythmically in response to the stimuli.

Not at all. EMS is so effective because it’s a proactive technology developed for athletes, targeting the entire body to achieve optimal conditioning, burn fat, develop strength, tighten muscles, jump start your metabolism and restore natural balance. Proper muscle mass is needed for strength, bone density, balance as well as maintaining a good metabolism. Miha helps strength your full body and core to work the muscles that many people do not target to achieve muscle balance and prevent injury.
